Welcome to Elks Way
Tampa Bay's Elks Internet Connection

The plan for this web site is to have a place where Elks membership can click and see the
current activities at Tampa Bay area and other state lodges.
Links here should show a good active calendar and lodge information.
The Elks (BPOE) are a private fraternal organization.  To enjoy any
of the dinner dances, parties and Friday night activities you'll have to join.   It could be the
best time you'll ever have with your friends!  Un-official Elks web site, no affiliation.
USA Today article on the Elks, take some time and read it!

You have heard the tolling of 11 strokes.
This is to remind us that with Elks,
the hour of 11 has a tender significance
wherever Elks may roam, whatever their lot in life may be,
when this hour falls upon the dial of night,
the great heart of Elkdom swells and throbs.
It is the golden hour of recollection,
the homecoming of those who wander,
the mystic roll call of those who will come no more.
Living or Dead, Elks are never forgotten, never forsaken.
Morning and Noon may pass them by,
the light of day sink heedlessly in the west,
but ere the shadows of midnight shall fall,
the chimes of memory will be pealing forth the friendly message,
"To Our Absent Members".

How to Destroy YOUR LODGE
1. Do NOT go to meetings.
2. If you go, arrive LATE.
3. Criticize the work of the officers and other members.
4. Get mad if you are not a member of a committee,
but if you are, make NO suggestions.
5. If the ER asks for your opinion on a subject at a
Lodge meeting, say you have none. After the
meeting while hanging out in the lounge, tell
anyone who will listen how the Issue was mishandled
    and what SHOULD have happened.
6. Don't do what has to be done yourself, but when
the other members roll up their sleeves and do
their very best, complain that the group is run by
    a bunch of ego-trippers.
7. Pay your dues as late as possible.
8. Never think of introducing new members.
9. Complain that nothing is ever published in the
newsletter that interests you, but never offer to
write an article or make a suggestion.
10. And when the Lodge withers and dies, say
YOU saw it coming all along.
(that is nothing to smile about)
